Advice:

Many back issues can be resolved using the self-help information on NHS Inform. This contains information on exercises to help with back issues.

If you are aged over 16 and experiencing muscle and/or joint pain the NHS Physiotherapy Service in East Lothian can offer help with a wide range of problems including those affecting necks, backs and shoulders. Their first point of contact is the MSK Advice Line. You don’t need a referral from a GP or other clinical professional to use this service, you can call the MSK Advice Line when you feel you need access to the physiotherapy service. They can be contacted on 0300 3 690680 Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 14:00.

Most back issues are best dealt with by the Physiotherapy service, but if you feel you need to discuss your issue with a GP please phone the reception desk on 0300 790 6277 to request an appointment.
