East Lothian’s Children’s Speech and Language Therapy service have a helpline for families to call if they have concerns about their child’s communication skills. The areas they cover include:
- development of speech sounds
- use and understanding of language
- social communication concerns (e.g. Autism)
- eating drinking and swallowing difficulties
- selective mutism
- stammering
- voice concerns
Their helpline is open from 13:30 to 16:00 on Tuesdays, and the phone number is 0131 446 4136. There’s no need to speak to a GP before contacting the helpline.
